No idea why others gave this place anything but 5 stars. To be fair, we did stay in a Jr suite, but still. The staff is amazing, the location is perfect and quiet and the room we had was spacious and the amenities are great.
Upon arrival, we were greeted with smiles and a friendly vibe. The entire hotel is just plain beautiful as well. Then, since we were early for check-in, they apologize and bring you some welcome drinks and snacks. Yes, everyone is offered them while you wait, but it's still a nice touch.
We enjoyed ours, but left to have lunch and shop. We came back and they walked us to our room and we had a welcome tart and a small bottle of Montepulciano waiting for us. The minibar has just a few things, but the first round is free...yes, free.
The room itself felt massive. Even if you do suites or junior suites, it was still great. Large seating area, Bang & Olufsen motorized swing-out TV and an adjustable bed as well. We also had a simple but quaint view.
The bathroom was the largest we have seen yet (at least for the type of room) and for the ladies, a full-sized bathtub, Bvlgari bathroom amenities and a Dyson hairdryer and a flat iron. Wood floors, working and adjustable A/C, power shades for the windows and a LARGE closet to store and/or hang things.
Now, any cons...only one IMO. It's a small boutique hotel, so there's only one elevator (I believe) and it's not fast, so if you're on a high floor, you have to be patient. Still, even the little waiting areas by the stairs are just...comfy looking.
While I can't speak on a regular room or the breakfast buffet (we had an early flight), we were fortunate to have a beautiful one. I can't say enough about the genuine kindness of the staff and the suggestions they gave for lunch and dinner...🤌.
We stayed at the Anantara and Sofitel in Rome as well and while they were also amazing, this just felt more...cozy, yet modernly comfortable.
I’ve stayed here three times before my trip in Nov 2023, but not for at least 10 years. I was glad to be back and had a wonderful stay. The Raphael is impeccably clean, comfortable, and quiet. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The location - just off Piazza Navona - is great. I’m eager to stay here again.
Most of the stars are for the service and staff who were very friendly and kind throughout the stay. The lobby is clean and bright and they have some nice touches like a welcome drink.
The room however is a real disappointment: the air con is leaking (yellow droplets in one photo), the bathtub and marble are stained and chipped, the bathroom is very small and narrow and hardly fit the two of us together (& we are not big people), the tap makes loud squeely noises when we use it.
The gym is not functioning so we had to go find an external one to use.
The location is OK, it’s near Piazza Navona and many touristy restaurants but not the sort you would like to go to. Have to walk 10-15 min to get to the nicer via Condotti shops.
Also the rooms are not sound proof so you can hear people talking in the corridor.
It was billed as a 5 star and Relais&Chateau which explained our disappointment.
This hotel is a gem! Love that they have Dyson hair straighteners and blow dryers in the bathroom - normally even super expensive hotels offer annoyingly cheap hair tools. We only stayed here for a night due to a missed flight that stranded us in Rome but thought everything about the hotel was very charming (exteriors, interiors, roof bar, neighborhood, staff) and our room (210) was an unbeatable value given how pricey Rome is. Would definitely come back!
This hotel is amazing. It is our favorite in Rome. There was a strike going on when we visited and they made us feel super safe. The rooms were a bit small but the detail was stunning. Hotel is right in the middle of everything. It is right next to Piazza Navona and walking distance to River Tiber, Pantheon, Castel Sant Angelo etc!! I suggest you walk down the cobblestone streets and get lost. We found an amazing Osteria for lunch and picked up some fresh speck from a deli nearby on our way back. We did not eat at Mqter Terrae, but had drinks on their rooftop. The view is unsurpassed and one of the best in the city in my opinion.
Wonderful stay. I love Rome and this was the best of everything- proximity, quiet, quality, and nice desk clerks who made us so comfortable and accommodated. I wish I’d been coming here every time!
The hotel itself is great. Location is really good. Easy to get to many cool Rome locations. Staff at front desk is very accommodating. Pleasant and a pleasure to work with. The restaurant service is slow and they seem often off put by your request. Try getting a drink at night. Good luck. The bar is atrocious and service worse. They are nearly disappointed to see you when you walk in without reservation. Hard to rate the hotel a 5 when restaurant staff and service is so bad. Not sure I will be back for this price.
The staff and the location allowed our recent stay in Rome to begin our honeymoon very accommodating and pleasurable. I would not hesitate to stay again!
